Preaching and Teaching

From the study to the pulpit: preparing and delivering sermons that feed God's people.

Short description

About this unit

Preaching is one of the pastor's chief duties. This unit teaches you how to study a passage, find its main point, and shape it into a sermon that is faithful to the text and clear to the hearer. You will prepare and deliver several short sermons in class and receive feedback from your tutor and fellow students, so that you grow in both confidence and skill.

What you will cover

  • Choosing and studying a preaching text
  • Shaping an outline with one clear main point
  • Delivery, application and pastoral sensitivity
